Migrating from GitHub Pages to Render is a quick process that gives you significantly more control over your builds and deploys.

1. [Create a new **Static Site**](https://dashboard.render.com/static/new) on Render and select your GitHub Pages repository.
2. Use the following values during creation:
   - **Build Command:**`bundle exec jekyll build`
   - **Publish Directory:**`_site`

That's it! Your site will be live at its `onrender.com` URL as soon as the build finishes.

To add a custom domain to your site, see [Custom Domains](/content/docs/custom-domains/index.html).

## A note on Ruby versions

By default, Render uses the latest LTS version of Ruby.

Render can also automatically detect and install the version of Ruby specified in `.ruby-version` at the root of your project, or in your `Gemfile`.

To ensure compatibility, you can confirm which version of Ruby GitHub Pages currently uses and configure your Render static site to use the same version.
